Secret Harbour

Secret Harbour is #151 in the Bantam series and was published in January 1982. Grania lives on the island of Grenada and her father, the Earl of Kilkerry, has arranged a marriage for her. Meanwhile, a rebellion takes over the island and she flees with a childhood servant to he home at Secret Harbour where she meets the Comte de Vence, a refugee from Martinique!

This is a very bold cover for this book with the deep blues and green palm branches. I like the ship in the harbor, and our couple seem to be waiting for it to land. Cartland's books set in the tropics were full of interesting historical tidbits!

  1. I LOVE this book! I really enjoyed the language difference between the hero and the heroine. I will definitely read this book over again. I like that the pirate-hero has an air of mystery about him, even to the reader, but is still a very sympathetic (and very romantic) character. I really enjoyed the fact that there is not "another woman" in his life. Rhonda, do you know of any other BC books along this same line? I would love to read another just like this one...

This one may be similar. Cartland wrote a few that are set on islands. If I think of any others, I'll comment.

  3. Thank you so much Rhonda! I'm going to order it on amazon.com right now. I really appreciate all the effort you are putting into this blog! I don't know how you can keep it all straight, but I'm so glad you can! I'll keep checking back, if you happen to remember any more similar stories. Thanks so much!
