Revenge is Sweet is #69 in the Camfield series and was published in May 1989. Valessa Chester, agrees to play a prank on the Marquis of Wyndonbury in exchange for money when it all goes wrong and she finds herself married to him! This is an interesting cover of our couple. They look as if they're in a foreign place, even though we see the Union Jack flying! Our heroine sits primly in a carriage while the hero gazes at her. Her dress has a Victorian look while the hero is mainly in Regency garb. Note the palm trees in the background!

A Knight in Paris is #68 in the Camfield series and was published in April 1989. The Earl of Charncliffe travels to Paris chasing after the Incomparable, but finds a treasure in a lovely Comtesse, just after he becomes engaged to the other lady. Can a miracle of true love still happen?

I like this cover because we have a rarity: a brunette heroine! It's so rare to see them on Barbara Cartland's covers! Our couple are at a reception with the emperor Napoleon. The drawing room is very ornately decorated and the guests are dressed finely. It's an interesting cover and would make me want to read the story.

The Perfume of the Gods

The Perfume of the Gods is #67 in the Camfield series and was published in March 1989. Medina Tewin, disguised as an Arab boy, agrees to guide the Marquis of Anglestone into Mecca! She is perturbed at his plan and afraid that she may fall in love with the handsome peer!

This is a simple, but beautiful cover done by an unknown artist. We see our couple standing near their camp by an oasis. The sun and sand look hot, but they are in the shade of a tree. I like their expressions as they gaze upon one another and the heroine's beautiful robes.

The Lovely Liar

The Lovely Liar is #66 in the Camfield series and was published in February 1989. Noella Wakefield had to deceive the Earl of Ravensdale since she was a pawn in a scoundrel's deadly scheme. However, fate and love had a different part for both of them to play!

This is a pretty cover! I like the heroine's 1840's Victorian full blue gown with her puffed hairdo that echoes the gown! Our hero still favors the garments of the past regency. They are in a curio room full with interesting dishes and objects of art.

A Chieftain Finds Love

A Chieftain Finds Love is #65 in the Camfield series and was published in January 1989. Barbara Cartland writes a story about Isa, a famous soprano, who leaves London for her beloved Scotland. She craves peace, but finds a plot to murder the chieftain of Clan McNaver and steal an ancient treasure from him. Can she warn him in time?

This is an elegant cover by an unknown artist of our couple during a party. Our heroine is exquisite in an icy blue gown with a feathered hairpiece. Our hero wears Scottish regalia. We don't know if they're meeting for the first time or after the excitement.

Little Tongues of Fire

Little Tongues of Fire is #64 in the Camfield series and was published in December 1988. The Duke of Quarrington is concerned enough about his profligate brother in order to welcome the suggestion of his marrying Miss Vina Wallace for her fortune. However, once he meets Vina, he wonders how she'll manage with him.

This is a pretty cover of our couple traveling by ship. Our heroine is pretty in a blue bustle gown while our hero is formal in burgandy. We get the feeling that they are in love and that this journey is one towards a solution.

Saved by Love is #63 in the Camfield series and was published in November 1988. Yursa's grandmother, who is half-French, is scheming to marry her to the Duc de Montveal. Yursa is intrigued with all things French, so goes along with her grandmother to meet the Duc, but a rival's hatred stands between true love!

This is a dramatic picture of our heroine being burned at the stake! A lady, probably the rival, stands triumphantly nearby, but we see the Duc riding to the rescue.

Only a Dream

Only A Dream by Barbara Cartland, is #62 in the Camfield series and was published in October 1988. Isla Kenway, the daughter of one of London's famous music hall performers, fleeing the advances of another, seeks shelter with the Marquis of Longridge! Can true love find a way to exist in these social circles?

This is an interesting cover of our heroine either saying goodbye or pleading for help from the hero. I like her full crinoline gown of white and he is also dressed for evening with a top hat, tuxedo, and cane. We see a picture of the elegance that was 19th century London in this picture.

The Herb for Happiness

The Herb for Happiness is #61 in the Camfield series and was published in September 1988. The Vicar's daughter, Selma, is enamored of the Duke of Mortlyn, but he doesn't notice her until she is able to use her healing powers and herbs after an attempt on his life renders him ill.

Interesting cover of our couple. I like the Tudor style house in the background and the cherub fountain! Our couple looks as if they are standing on the grounds of his estate and sharing a tender moment together! Her poofy gown makes me want to bring them back into style!

An Adventure of Love

An Adventure of Love is #60 in the Camfield series and was published in August 1988. Princess Zorina falls in love right at the time Queen Victoria promises her to the aging King of Leothia. Will true love triumph in spite of queens and decrees?

This cover, by an unknown illustrator, shows our couple riding mountain horses through a rugged terrain. We don't know if they are escaping or out for a ride. Unless you read the blurb on the back cover, you wouldn't know that the heroine is a princess, but these are some of Barbara Cartland's best romances and a story of what Queen Victoria really did with her relatives!

The Goddess of Love

The Goddess of Love is #59 in the Camfield series and was published in July 1988. Corena Melville is in Greece and has fallen in love with Lord Warburton. However, she may have to choose between her love and her father's life!

This is a very beautiful cover of our couple standing at the ruins in Greece. We see a beautiful scene of the countryside and a ruin where our couple has just completed their wedding vows. It is one that makes you want to pick up the book and see what it's all about.

Love is Invincible

Love is Invincible is #58 in the Camfield series and was published in June 1988. Delia's sister, Lucille, has fallen in love with the Marquis of Shawforde and his family is irate. They send Lord Kenyon down to break it up, but he ends up intrigued with Delia! Can both couples find true love? This cover is pretty, but our couple seem awkwardly kissing each other. I like the ornate room and her elegant purple bustle dress. I wish we could see more of the hero's face and features. BC.com has the heroine in a different color dress, which is interesting! The picture is lighter and I like it better than the cover print used.

Lovers in Lisbon

Lovers in Lisbon is #57 in the Camfield series and was published in May 1988. Felicita is a poor seamstress when she is noticed by the Duchesse of Monreuil in the lobby of a hotel. The Duchesse plans to use her as a weapon to entice the son of her first lover, the Marquis of Alvaro. This is one of the few books Cartland set in Portugal.

This cover, by an unknown artist, is very pretty. I like that the heroine has dark hair, which is unusual for Barbara Cartland heroines! Our couple stand in a field of flowers and we see a beautiful blue sky as a background. Our couple seem enamored of each other!

Riding in the Sky

Riding in the Sky is #56 in the Camfield series and was published in April 1988. Filipa Seymour agrees to impersonate a Pretty Horse Breaker and help her brother win a contest that the Marquis of Kilne is hosting. However, it gets sticky when the Marquis makes her a shocking offer!

This is an interesting cover of the parade with the contestants dressed up and riding their horses. We see the hero, not dressed in costume, talking to the heroine in her medieval outfit. The 1860's were the height of fame for the Pretty Horse Breakers, in London.

Secrets of the Heart

Secrets of the Heart is #55 in the Camfield series and was published in March 1988. Zenobia Chade is under the control of her evil stepmother after her father's death and runs away! She finds a job as a secretary to the Earl of Ockendon but can she really stay hidden?

This is a colorful and pretty cover of our couple standing and comforting each other at the bottom of an elegant stairway. I'm assuming that the lady on the floor is the evil stepmother, since only the butler is helping her! The heroine's yellow bustle dress dominates this cover with its color and ornateness.

I'm glad that Barbara Cartland kept most of her stories in the 1800-1900 time frame. She knew her history and the glimpses of fashion and society from then is very interesting.

A Caretaker of Love

A Caretaker of Love is #54 in the Camfield series and was published in February 1988. Neula and her mother flee her stepfather and run to her mother's childhood home, now owned by the Marquis of Kerne. He is intrigued to learn their secret while her mother is courted by an old flame!

We see a dramatic cover with an older man, presumably the evil stepfather, choking or having an attack, while the heroine looks on horrified. The hero stands behind her and the room is very elegant and rich. The heroine's blue gown is typical for the 1830's.

Sapphires in Siam

Sapphires in Siam is #53 in the Camfield series by Barbara Cartland and was published in January 1988. The Marquis of Vale is visited by the Siamese ambassador with the news that his friend, Calvin Brook, is dead. He meets Calvin's daughter to break the news to her and she decides to travel with him to Siam, since Ankana doesn't believe the report about her father's death.

This cover is interesting to me because the heroine is a brunette, which has been rare in Cartland's latest romances. One gets tired of blondes after a while! Our couple are in an Oriental setting which is dangerous and mysterious. We don't know if the Buddhist monk in the background is friendly or not.

Love and Kisses

Love and Kisses is #52 in the Camfield series by author Barbara Cartland and was published in December 1987. Arilla Lindsey is young and beautiful, but won't find an eligible man in the country. She plans a scheme with her handsome, but poor cousin, to get to London and marry a wealthy man!

This is a cute cover of our couple standing in a Regency era room. Our heroine is pretty in a pale pink gown and the hero seems to be reassuring her. I love Cartland's romances like this one; easy to read and ending happily!

The Love Puzzle

The Love Puzzle is #51 in the Camfield series and was published in November 1987. Orphan Katrina Darley finds herself engaged to the dashing Duke of Lyndbooke after an incident happens where her reputation must be saved! Can he really save her and can she save him from a pair of viperous women?

We see our couple pictured on a horse riding away from some caravans. I would guess that the hero has just rescued the heroine since she wouldn't be riding in a ball gown! She is a typical Barbara Cartland heroine, blonde, young, and very pretty! The unknown artist has a talent for drawing horses. I also like the fact that we see our couple with nature around them, as evidenced by the fact that they are framed by the trees and sky.

Starlight Over Tunis

Starlight Over Tunis is #50 in the Camfield series and was published in October 1987. The Marquis of Quinbourne is in Monte Carlo when he is approached by an English Adventurer and his daughter about traveling into Tunisia to obtain a treasure! Since the Marquis doesn't want to return to England and marry, he accepts and travels with Sabra and her father to a mysterious land!

This is an interesting cover of our couple in an ancient amphitheater. Everything is clay colored which echoes in the heroine's hair! She shares an embrace with the hero and we wonder what adventures and danger surround them!

Barbara Cartland's books where the heroine seems to be of inferior birth to the hero are always interesting reads!
